Naruto and Sasuke fight in Boruto surpasses fan expectations

Episode 216 of the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime delivered the long-awaited all-out battle between Naruto, Sasuke, and Isshiki Otsutsuki, the leader of Kara.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations showed that Isshiki Otsutsuki was forced to finally reveal himself in Jigen’s body. This is thanks to a trap set by Kara’s lead scientist Amado and his Jiraiya clone henchman Koji Kashin.

Amado’s plan has left Isshiki especially vulnerable, as the Otsutuski is on a ticking clock to retrieve Kawaki and take possession of his body before Jigen’s body surrenders and Isshiki truly dies.

In that context, the last anime battle is riskier than any previous battle in the saga. Isshiki is the most powerful Otsutsuki we’ve seen with his Sukunahikona Dojutsu shrink ability and Daikokuten storage technique.

To survive that battle, Naruto Uzumaki I and Sasuke Uchiha have to take their respective powers to new levels, and even then, it is not enough. In this way, the Boruto anime catches up with the manga currently in publication.

Naruto and Sasuke vs Isshiki’s fight

“This episode definitely exceeded my expectations! This was the best way for Godfather – Toshiyuki Tsuru to mark his return as a storyboard connoisseur. The melee combat, camera rotations, smudges, and effects were perfect” commented user @ Abdul_S17 on Twitter.

Episode 216, “Sacrifice”, was a further step for the anime, which is notoriously unpredictable in terms of action and animation quality. “Sacrifice” may not be on par with Naruto, Sasuke, and the little boy’s battle against Momoshiki Otsutsuki (episode 65, “Father and Son”), but it is certainly one of the new favorites.

Toshiyuki Tsuru’s return will be welcomed by longtime Naruto anime fans. Naruto Baryon Mode makes his official debut in episode 216 and this new form of power could also end up being his ultimate sacrifice.
