The fever of The Game of the Calamara has even reached the form of anime.
The South Korean series The Squid Game has had one of the greatest successes so far because with a single season on Netflix I have filled everyone with emotions, so both its actors and the program continue to break streaming records and now an artist decided to combine the Korean style with anime.
Through Twitter, user hanavbara took anime as inspiration and made two illustrations in the style of animation from the nineties, which in recent years has been very popular. The Squid Game hit the retro anime trend.
The first illustration shows actresses Jung Ho-Yeon and Le Yu-Mi, Kang Sae-Byeok, or player 067 and Ji Yeong or player 240, respectively. The scene is one of the most emotional in the series, as one of them manages to win the game of marbles, while already knowing the ending that player 240 has. The image reminds us of a style somewhat similar to Sailor Moon.
The following illustration lets us see the mysterious gambling man who appears at the beginning of the series, although in The Squid Game we do not know his name, we know what actor he is, because he is neither more nor less than Gong Yoo, a who we have seen in other productions like Train to Busan. The image recreates the scene where the man offers to play Seong Gi-Hun.
Both images went viral, as they are a portrait of how the Squid Game series would look in an anime version and we undoubtedly liked it, but we hope that given the success of the series, there may be an animated adaptation.
The Squid Game tells the story of a group of 456 people who through a survival game must risk their lives in order to win a prize of 45.6 million won, but only one will be the winner. The series had its premiere on September 17 through Netflix.
