Black Clover’s cast of brave characters is as diverse as it is engaging. Asta, Noelle, and Yuno prove that Yuki Tabata hasn’t skimped on building his plot around a variety of characters dealing with conflict in completely different ways.
Each and every magic knight is forced to resist the icy glare of fear on a regular basis. The way to face this fear is unique to each knight. Some knights walk away from fear and comfortably hide behind their titles, like Sekke Bronzazza. Others turn fear into electrical energy to be prepared for whatever fight lies ahead.
10. Yuno Is Incredibly Brave, But Her Fear Of Falling Behind Asta Drives Her More Than Anything Else
Yuno is blessed with mana and is able to empower her magical abilities with the strength of the spirit of the wind. His status as one of the most powerful and promising young wizards in the Clover Kingdom is unquestioned, but his privilege has tempered his sense of worth.
Despite her strength, most of Yuno’s advances stem from her fear of being left behind by Asta. Yuno is certainly brave, but when compared to others, he takes on the attributes of a frightened young mage who is still feeling his place in the great world of magic, dungeons, and demons.
9. Fuegoleon Vermillion approaches battle with moderate fear that helps keep him calm in the face of danger
The Magic Knight-Captain of the Crimson Lions is one of the most powerful and fearless characters in all of Black Clover. To find balance within this powerful bravery, Fuegoleon approaches battle with a calm disposition that allows fear to guide him away from danger. Of course, this mild-mannered fearlessness got him into trouble when Licht launched a surprise attack on the Royal Capital.
8. Nacht Faust faces demons and darkness with a smile on his face
As vice-captain of the Black Bulls, Nacht Faust has learned what it means to be fearless in the face of adversity. After studying with Yami Sukehiro for a short time, Nacht made his own way through adversity using the power of demons. His experience with the power of demons and the ability to manipulate darkness with his shadow magic made Nacht a great candidate to explore the Kingdom of Pallas as a spy.
Harnessing the power of demons and facing darkness head-on isn’t the only thing that separates Nacht from his peers. The biggest difference between him and the other magic knights is the fact that he always faces the darkness with a smile on his face.
7. The Wizard King Faces Death Fearlessly Because He Is Overpowered
The King of the Clover Kingdom is way above the power ladder most other Black Clover characters are on. During his battle with Licht, Julius cast a spell that expanded his mana zone throughout the Clover Kingdom and directly countered the attack created by his enemy. It was an incredible display of power that has yet to be matched outside of this battle.
Although Julius’s fearlessness is hard to speak of due to the fact that he is overpowered, he approaches to conflict and death with a grace that few could. Of course, it’s a little easier to face death with a revival spell cast on your forehead.
6. Jack The Ripper Throws Caution To The Wind To Prove How Fearless He Is
The fearless leader of the Green Mantis is a praying mantis. With the combined strength of his hunter instinct and slash magic, Jack is able to cut right through any fear-inducing threat. His fearlessness comes at a cost, as Jack hardly fears death.
After Yami was captured by the Kingdom of Shovels, Jack was about to abandon his fellow Magic Knight Captain to mount a rescue mission of his own. Considering the combined strength of the Palas Kingdom’s devil-possessed triad, this selfless act would be as brave as it was reckless. Unfortunately, fearlessness often goes hand in hand with ignorance in the world of Black Clover.
5. The Captain Of The Black Bulls Fearlessly Became The Strongest Magic Knight In The Clover Kingdom When Spade’s Demons Attacked
The fearless leader of the Black Bulls is as bold and reckless as he can be without falling into the realm of recklessness. The more fans learn about Yami’s story, the more they discover the fearless foreigner who never stops breaking barriers and pushing his limits.
Today, Yami is a Magic Knight Squad Captain who is not afraid of failure. In fact, before Asta, Yami was considered a huge failure by many of his peers. Even so, he fearlessly overcame the criticism of his peers until he could be considered the most powerful magician in the entire Clover Kingdom. So, he tried even harder to face Dante and the demon king.
4. Mereoleona Vermillion fears neither friend nor foe when she enters combat with her flame magic
The lioness of the Vermillion family is a fire magic prodigy rivaled only by her brother Fuegoleon. His ability to draw from his natural environment to enhance his magic with the Mana Zone technique gives him a nearly limitless supply of mana to use in combat.
While her mastery of the mana zone is remarkably impressive when the rest of the cast learns of the mana zone during the Kingdom of Heart Joint Struggle Arc, it doesn’t make her unbeatable. Still, Mereoleona faces danger with a smile on her face and a brand new badge of valor. Even in times of peace, Mereoleona has no qualms about kidnapping some of the Clover Kingdom’s most powerful mages for brutal training sessions.
3. The Witch Queen Showed Her Fearlessness By Choosing To Establish Her Reign In A Region Of Great Magic
The Queen of Witches doesn’t get a lot of screen time, but during the two short story arcs that set Asta and his friends in the Forest of Witches, she certainly shows her strength.
For starters, it’s mind-boggling to think that the Reign of Witches sits in the middle of a strong magical region between the Warring Kingdoms of Clover and Diamond. If this act of political defiance isn’t synonymous with ignorance, it is synonymous with fearlessness, and fans know all too well that the Queen of Witches is anything but ignorant.
2. Asta’s fearlessness makes the protagonist without magic look like nothing more than a knucklehead
Asta is not necessarily ignorant, but he chooses to approach the world through action rather than contemplation. The reason Asta often seems ignorant is that he doesn’t see the world through the lens of fear.
Instead of letting his own fear dictate how he views the world, Asta meets the world face to face. This personal and direct interaction allows the young magic knight to see the world as it is so that he can react to it with seriousness. This seriousness has opened the doors to a life that many never thought impossible for a commoner without magic, and Asta’s adventure has only just begun.
1. Luck rushes after the fight without being stopped by fear
When fans first meet Luck, his fearlessness is terrifying. The Black Bulls lightning mage is fearless and often pushes his limits, making him the opposite of strategic or calculating.
By now, fans are used to Luck’s fearless antics. His fixation on combat has led to a number of breakthroughs that have improved his combat skills and increased the confidence of fans in his methods. On the other hand, the mighty young mage has been defeated by a number of enemies that he shouldn’t have challenged in the first place.
