Needless to say, Hideaki Anno’s acclaimed work, Neon Genesis Evangelion, is one of the most fortuitous things that could happen to us a long, long time ago, and thanks to the endless reminders of the fandom we may never forget it. Now a cosplayer made an Asuka Evangelion performance so charming it’s worth taking a few seconds to contemplate.
The artist miruqi shared with us on her Instagram account a cosplay of her harvest that perfectly pays tribute to Anno’s anime that will make you sigh. Wearing the classic Tokyo-3 First Municipal High School student look, cosplayer Miruqi made one of the most realistic performances we’ve ever seen of the Pilot of Unit Evangelion 02.
As you will notice, Miruqi is not only identical to Asuka but also her entire outfit, consisting of a suit that perfectly recreates the uniform of the Evangelion students, which seems like the pilot had just been taken from the anime to reality. The cosplayer’s hairstyle and expressions are also unmatched.
How did you like the execution of miruqi as Asuka? It may be unfair to mention that this is one of the best re-enactments of Evangelion we have ever seen, but it is certainly one of the best. From my point of view, her interpretation stands out thanks to the well-elaborated design of her uniform that reveals all the work and dedication that the artist had to undertake to recreate one of the most memorable characters in anime.
The original Neon Genesis Evangelion anime premiered over two decades ago, but after much effort and time, Master Anno was finally able to wrap up the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy, which is now available on Amazon Prime Video, including Evangelion: 1.0 You. Are (Not) Alone, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, Evangelion 3.0 You Can Not Redo.
